nVidia VOLTA nextgen graphics to include HBM2 and NVLINK

NVIDIA-Volta-GPUnVidia’s new architecture codename Volta, is set to include High Bandwidth Memory 2.  After AMD had first generation exclusive rights to HBM1, as seen on the Fury X.  nVidia is poised to break into this new technology riding on the coat tails of their very power efficient Maxwell architecture (750 and 900 series).  Also included will be NVLINK technology to dramatically increase bandwidth, however this technology likely will not show up on your home system as PCI 3.0 alone has more than enough bandwidth for today’s (and tomorrows) video cards.  NVLINK is expected to be used for the TESLA compute cards 3

.and other GPU processing for server farms and the like.  Expect big things from nVidia in the coming year.  AMD, watch out.
